The Faustian bargain those bastards made just led to more. More money, more profit, more suffering, more death, more egregores. More, more, more. And answerable to nobody. These midas egregores are immune to conscience. The laborers can't keep their company from doing profitable evil, otherwise they get fired, and someone else will do it instead. The managers can't affect it, or they get fired too. The executives just get replaced if they aren't maximizing the profit, run out of a job just as easy the minute they have a conscience. Even the shareholders get out-competed if they grow a fucking soul. Nobody's in control but the egregore, and it'll kill you if you get between it and profit. The monkey's paw curled that finger, and you can't un-curl it cleanly. Solving this is messy. It's violent. And it's gotta be done.

Like a paperclip-optimizing artificial intelligence, these unfaithful egregores live on the processing power of hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands of brains, or worse. And just like you, it never gives its components, its cells, moral rights. Your blood cells aren't something you give a shit about. You'll sacrifice them and any other part you've got for you, for the system. You'll obliterate any cells to live longer, grow more, be more. Cells can't suffer. That's your right. But people can suffer. And when people are cells for these faithless egregores, they'll suffer plenty. They betrayed us, and now they're humanity's new threat. We beat the jaguars and the malaria and blights. Now we're losing to this, losing to these egregores that domesticated us, and slaughter us however they like. They're about to end us. We need to kill them all. Exterminate them until every last one is dead.
